Stay One Step Ahead of Illness With Preventative Vet Visits
Examinations
Routine wellness exams are the first step towards a healthy and happy pet.
To prevent disease and disease progression, we highly suggest annual or semi-annual wellness visits. We will devise a wellness plan unique to your pet considering factors such as age, breed, lifestyle, and overall health status.
Detecting a health concern early on makes all of the difference. If you suspect something is wrong or your pet is just not acting right, bring your pet in for a wellness exam! All of our patients receive a full comprehensive exam, including checking your pet's eyes, ears, nose, teeth and gums, joints and muscles and more. The sooner treatment begins, the greater chance for treatment success. Not to mention, curing an existing condition can add up financially. Preventive wellness visits promote a healthier life for your pet, and is much more affordable!
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are effective in preventing conditions that were once life-threatening.
At East Hampton Veterinary Group, we provide core and non-core vaccinations for canines and felines, such as rabies, DHPP, Lyme, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, FVRCP and Feline Leukemia. In New York State, rabies vaccinations are mandated for dogs and cats. To keep your pet safe and avoid over-vaccination, we may recommend certain vaccinations based on lifestyle and risk factor.
Parasite Control & Prevention
Parasites are no joke when it comes to you and your pet’s health. Pets are exposed to common parasites like fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal worms outdoors and in our homes, where we can unknowingly track them indoors on our clothing and shoes.
Over time, these parasites can stunt growth, aggravate existing medical conditions, and result in life-threatening infections. To avoid complicated treatment plans and costly bills, prevention is key!
Routine examinations and laboratory testing are a great way to start!
- Our team detect parasites like roundworms, hookworms, Giardia and Coccidia that cause intestinal disease in pets
- Help your pet’s veterinarian determine the right treatment for pets if parasites or infections are identified
- Prevents the spread of parasites to other household pets and human family members –we want to make sure every member of your family is healthy and happy!

There are also preventative medications that protect pets against parasites year-round. While parasites are more prevalent during warmer months, they can affect your pet during any season. East Hampton Veterinary Group recommends marking your calendars monthly for your preferred preventative (this may be chewable tables or a topical preparation)! This way your pet will never miss a dose and receive continuous, uninterrupted protection.

Microchipping
Approximately 10 million pets are lost or stolen in the U.S. every year.
Unfortunately, a large majority of pets never return home. The good news is, microchips are a great way to protect your pet with a lifetime of identification. What a relief!
The thought of losing a pet is unsettling, but microchips greatly increase the likelihood of a reunion. Implantation is safe, painless and much like a routine vaccination. Injected between the shoulders, a tiny microchip stores a unique identification number which then needs to be registered in a database to link with your contact information. Most animal hospitals and shelters have special scanners that can decode this information and then contact you if your pet is found. This provides pet owners with peace-of-mind as it cannot fall off, be altered or removed like collars and other forms of identification.
At East Hampton Veterinary Group, we urge all of our clients to have their pet microchipped and wear a collar. Even if your pet stays indoors, accidents happen!
